Material Description
Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) offers the broadest resistance to chemicals of any advanced engineering plastic. They have no known solvents below 392°F and are inert to steam, strong bases, fuels, and acids. PPS is ideal for precise tolerance machined components because it has minimal moisture absorption and a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion.

Grades of PPS
Ryton® 40% Glass Reinforced PPS
Ryton®, Glass filled PPS, is the most recognized filled grade of PPS. Glass filled PPS has better dimensional stability and thermal performance than unfilled Techtron® PPS and maintains its strength to above 425°F. Ryton® is a trade name of Chevron Phillips Chemical.
Ryton® Bearing Grade PPS
Ryton®, Bearing grade PPS, is internally lubricated and is carbon fiber filled, offering a low coefficient of thermal expansion and uncompromised chemical resistance. Bearing grade Ryton® can be used for thrust or wear applications and when an electrical conductive material is required.
Techtron® PPS
Techtron® PPS is made by Quadrant EPP USA, Inc. Unfilled Techtron® is easily machined to close tolerances. Techtron® PPS can be used for structural applications in corrosive environments and as a lower-temperature replacement for PEEK. Standard Techtron® is off-white in color, but it is also available in black as a compression molded version.
